If you've ever been turned down for a job, a loan or credit card, or even an apartment then you know WHY. Whether it's a dismissal, an acquittal, a misdemeanor, or a felony once it's on your record it stays there. That is until you do something about it.
Don't let yourself get continually punished for a past indiscretion, a minor mistake, or even a big mistake. Everyone deserves a second chance, including you!
Nevada is a "one and done" state. That means when you seal your records, you seal all of it, everything on it.
For some people that will mean multiple jurisdictions, multiple city and district attorneys that need to approve your Petition. Once that is completed, your petition is filed with the Court and your Order is sent to the Judge for signature. Next, the signed order must be sent to the records department in each jurisdiction informing them that your record is now sealed. This means your record is now sealed locally and shouldn't show up in most local searches. And then we send it to the NCIC. ( National Crime Information Center) Once they input the order in their system you should be cleared nationwide.
While this last step can take up to 6-8 months it might be the most important. This last step is where most of the bigger background check companies get the bulk of their information. If you're trying to get a job with a national company this is now a possibility. If you want to live in that great apartment now you can.
Each case is unique. The bottom line is there is a waiting period after your case is resolved unless it was dismissed or you were acquitted. In those two (2) situations you can seal immediately. For all others it will depend on the final charge and the length of time since end of your sentence or probation.
